Human Trafficking Prevention Framework
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ([link removed]) has recently released its human trafficking prevention framework.

The process of creating this framework started three years ago. FNUSA and several members submitted feedback on the draft framework.

Although there is more work to be done in order to get the federal government to focus on primary prevention, the report features a great framework for cross-sector prevention efforts.

Recommendations from FNUSA and its members ([link removed]) that were included in the framework include:
* To support integrating human trafficking prevention into existing violence prevention efforts, rather than creating less effective trafficking-specific efforts
* To include consent and workers' rights education in prevention measures for children
* To work with and fund community-based organizations
* To include strong confidentiality protections whenever survivor's data is collected or shared

Join Us In The Fight!

The National Human Trafficking Hotline ([link removed]) cannot be a tipline for law enforcement!

Recently, a harmful bill (HR2601) was introduced that would require the hotline to report tips to law enforcement without survivors' consent. Survivors should have full agency in their healing process, especially in deciding if or when they want to report their case to law enforcement. It is urgent that we prevent this requirement from becoming law.

FNUSA and others advocating against HR2601 were able to prevent the bill from moving forward in 2023, but it could still be voted on in 2024. So far, our community has sent almost 600 letters to their Representatives urging them to vote "No" on the bill.

Will you join us in the fight?
