My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan – Happy Presidents' Day! I wanted to update you on my work for Texas' 31st district in the United States House. ON THE DOCKET: Impeaching Mayorkas Keeping TX-31 Safe What do you think? Fighting Biden's LNG Export Ban THE BRIEF: Texas is building a military "base camp" in the city of Eagle Pass near the U.S.-Mexico border, part of a broader effort by the state's Republican governor to deter illegal immigration. The House Education and the Workforce Committee subpoenaed Harvard University for obstructing its weekslong antisemitism investigation. TxDOT is rolling out a “smart freight corridor” on a 21-mile stretch of State Highway 130 from Georgetown to Del Valle. IMPEACHING MAYORKAS I voted for the second time to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The vote was successful, and now the decision lies with the Senate to convict and remove Secretary Mayorkas from office. Secretary Mayorkas' failure to uphold the law is a dereliction of duty. His actions have put the nation at risk, and he should be held accountable. KEEPING OUR STREETS SAFE As a chairman on Appropriations, I'm uniquely positioned to deliver for Texas' 31st district and bring funding back home to benefit our community. I recently secured $1.5 million for the Bell County Sheriff's Department, and I was able to see the new equipment they purchased to keep our community safe with that funding. Keeping our neighborhood safe and our officers coming home to their families are two of my biggest priorities in Congress. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Now that the House has impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, it is now in the Senate's hands. Would you vote to convict and remove Secretary Mayorkas from office? Yes No   FIGHTING BACK AGAINST BIDEN'S LNG EXPORT BAN President Biden recently banned all new liquified natural gas export projects, hurting energy producers in Texas, our allies, and our economy. I voted to overturn that ban by supporting the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act. Biden's policy would jeopardize our energy security in the name of climate activism and slow Texas' economy and job creation. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege.
