You don't want to miss this.   Official Newsletter Impeaching Secretary Mayorkas Although the impeachment failed the first time due to three Republicans turning their backs on the American people, we successfully accomplished it this week. We voted 'Yes' on H.Res. 863 – Impeaching Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanors. Our vote in favor of this bill reflects our commitment to prioritizing the needs of the Lowcountry. We cannot let our borders be overrun by hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants. We need to stop the thousands of pounds of lethal fentanyl being smuggled into the United States and eradicate the threats posed by dangerous criminal cartels. It's time to put the Lowcountry first and ensure the safety and security of our communities. This Week's Town Hall We hosted a tele-townhall for Berkeley County, providing us with the opportunity to engage in one-on-one conversations with constituents and learn more about the problems they care about most. For residents in Berkeley County, issues related to the border and infrastructure were top of mind.     Rep. Mace in the News: Fox News: Rep. Mace addresses recent concerns about President Biden's cognitive decline and whether he is fit to lead. Updates from Washington Reauthorize the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 Our office remains strong in our commitment to combating human trafficking. This week, we voted alongside 413 other representatives in favor of H.R. 5856 – the Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act. This bipartisan victory marks a significant stride in reinforcing the critical support of the Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, ensuring America's continued vigilance against this despicable crime. With this reauthorization, we secure funding for programs supporting trafficking victims. Pushing Back on the CCP We voted ‘Yes’ on the bipartisan Uyghur Policy Act of 2023 (H.R.2766), because it aligns with our commitment to supporting human rights across the globe. The Chinese Communist Party is oppressing and committing genocide against Uyghurs and other minority groups in China. Our vote in favor of the bill authorizes the creation of a Special Coordinator for Uyghur Issues within the Department of State and allocates funds to support organizations that are helping these communities. Unleashing American Energy The Biden administration has hampered oil and natural gas industries by shutting down pipelines, limiting production, and even limiting our domestic export. We voted ‘Yes’ on H.R. 7176 – Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act. This bill puts American energy first. This crucial legislation prioritizes American energy, fostering growth and innovation within our domestic natural gas sector. It's time to unleash the full potential of our energy resources and position America as a global energy leader. This bill passed with a 224 - 200 vote. Tibet-China Dispute Resolution We voted ‘Yes’ on H.R.553, Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act, a bill to strengthen US efforts to push the Chinese government to resolve the longstanding Tibet-China dispute through dialogue with Tibetan leaders. The Chinese Communist Party seeks to extend its repressive reach in Tibet and abroad. They are targeting for surveillance and harassment of Tibetan diaspora communities in the United States, in India and in Nepal. This bill is a vote for democracy, plain and simple. This bill passed 392 - 28. Strengthening the Quad We voted ‘Yes’ on H.R.5375, Strengthening the Quad Act, a bill to upgrade the Quadrilateral Dialogue (Quad) and establish a Quad Interparliamentary Working Group with Japan, Australia, and India.
