John -- as I continue working in the House to make America’s greatness accessible and affordable to all and running for re-election in South Carolina’s 6th Congressional District, I’ve informed Leader Hakeem Jeffries that I plan to step down from my position as Assistant Democratic Leader to spend more time focusing on my role as National Co-Chair for President Biden’s re-election campaign.
I was proud to play a role in helping send President Biden to the White House in 2020, and I’m proud to be on his team again in 2024. I’ll be on “Face the Nation” this Sunday, February 18th, to talk about the efforts I’ll be undertaking on behalf of Biden’s re-election, so please tune in to CBS at 10:30 a.m. EST.
We can’t take anything for granted in 2024, John. While Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are doubling down with their efforts to divide our country and destroy our democracy, President Biden and Vice President Harris are committed to doing the things that contribute to uniting us and continuing our trek towards “a more perfect union.” You can see that in the historic progress we have made during their first term: steady job growth, increasing wages, billions in student debt relief, expanded broadband, and lower prescription costs.
As co-chair, I’ll be traveling across the country to key battlegrounds to share that message with voters and talk about the importance of sending President Biden and VP Harris back to the White House. I plan to also do my part to regain the Democratic majority in the House and will be in New York Sunday evening in that regard.
I hope you’ll join me in this work, John. Grassroots supporters have an important role to play in this election, and I want to know that you’re ready to get involved. If you’re committed to helping re-elect Biden, please add your name to mine today.
Thank you,
Jim
