John xxxxxx,

Recently, Pennsylvania’s Governor, Josh Shapiro, announced his budget proposal for the 2024/2025 fiscal year starting July 1, 2024.

Governor Shapiro proposed a General Fund budget of $48.3 billion, which includes necessary investments in public K–12 education, higher education, economic development, housing and public transportation.

Included in Gov. Shapiro’s budget priorities, he proposed to increase Pennsylavania’s minimum wage to $15 per hour, legalize adult-use marijuana, and funding for gun violence prevention and reduction initiatives.

Here’s why we are sharing this with you today:

This November, HALF the PA State Senate and the ENTIRE PA House are on the ballot. This means that this election year, Pennsylvanians can vote for representatives who will be in charge of creating the legislation that prioritizes policies and allocates money to those priorities.

It is up to the voters to vote for the legislators who will act on their behalf and fight for their priorities. And it’s up to us to ensure that voters have what they need to make their voices heard.

A budget is a moral document. We have a unique opportunity to elect a majority that will pass legislation to raise our minimum wage, fairly fund K-12 and higher education, legalize adult-use marijuana, and defend abortion access.
