** Happy Chinese New Year (Feb. 10, 2024)

I hope this year of the DRAGON will bring you good health and prosperity. This photo is from 2004 when I took my entire family to visit my home town of Chengdu, in Sichuan province, China. We had a great time visiting my extended family and friends, eating Sichuan food, and touring the local parks. Our three children had an unforgettable experience inside China including speaking Mandarin with my extended family relatives.

The last time I visited my family in Chengdu was 2015. See this photo of my family gathering for dinner, including my younger brother, three uncles and one aunt, their spouses and children, and me in the middle in green.

I was planning to visit them again but had to cancel my trip in 2019 to China due to the unstable and risky situations for people like me. Very suddenly, right before my trip, pro-Beijing Internet trolls started attacking me and said on Facebook that I was a "wanted criminal" because I have been out spoken against China's Communist Party and its human rights abuses. Also, when I gave a talk near Salt Lake City in UT in Feb. 2022 as a Republican Congressional Candidate, one pro CCP guy even showed up there to record my entire talk. The last straw was in 2022 June, a verbal threat was made on X in Mandarin from a Beijing Acct: "PLA Grandpa is going to crush your doggy head." This is very Chinese, not something someone would say if they lived in the west.

The CCP is interfering with my congressional campaign with personal attacks and character assassinations too. If you wonder why I am still running for office as a public figure, because I am doing my part to save America, the country I love. I will not be silenced in my new country. I will never disappear, and I will never kill myself.

Nine years is a long time without seeing my family and friends in China. I miss them. I pray for them and 1.4 Billion Chinese someday to be free from their brutal CCP regime. I hope I will be able to see them again in the future.

Anyway, I believe that this year of the Dragon will be auspicious since I was born in the year of the Dragon a little bit ago.
