Friend,

Do you remember back in 2007 when California tried to force "microstamping" requirements on gun manufacturers?

The gun companies pointed out that the technology to do what the State was asking is impossible.

Fast forward and enter California Asm. David Chiu.

Asm. Chiu recently authored AB 2847, a placeholder bill for proposed amendments to the Handgun Roster.

As documented in the SF Chronicle, Chiu is proposing to "scale back" standards for the microstamping technology.

Chiu's argument is this will make it easier for companies to comply with the requirement, but we all know what it really means.

By requiring firearms to possess a microstamping feature, Chiu is looking to strip all the guns currently on the Roster from sale.

But don't take our word for it. Take it from Chiu, who recently said in the Chronicle:

"It creates a mechanism for unsafe guns to be phased out..."

What's more, Chiu knows that even if companies can comply, which is debatable, very few will be able to afford to.

And that means taking one step further toward the eventual elimination of all handguns for sale in California.

Friend, we've got to take a stand against the return of the dreaded microstamping requirements.

We cannot allow the State to get away with this. So send them a message by making a tax-deductible contribution to CGF. <[link removed]>

We'll use your generous donation to fight back against outrageous gun control proposals just like this.

But don't wait too long, or California's handgun selection could get a whole lot smaller in no time.

Sincerely,
