AFTER SCHOOL SATAN CLUBS START AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN TENNESSEE AND CALIFORNIA… IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD NEXT?

On January 10, 2024, the Satanic Temple successfully held its first After School Satan Club meeting at Chimneyrock Elementary School in Memphis, Tennessee. The first meeting drew in DOZENS of protestors who argued that The Satanic Temple (TST) should NOT be allowed on school grounds. 

The After School Satan Club’s campaign director, June Everett, stated that the group targets schools where religious clubs—such as the Good News Club—operate because they want to provide “an alternative to prevalent proselytizing religious after school clubs focused on indoctrination.” 

Capistrano Unified School District in California is facing similar pushback after the club announced it would hold its first meeting at Truman Benedict Elementary School this month. 

Although board members have spoken out against the organization, both districts say they are legally required to allow the clubs on campus. However, they have promised to explore legal options to “mitigate the situation.”

In 2023, the Saucon Valley School District, located in Pennsylvania, denied an After School Satan Club from operating on campus. The school district was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for denying the club access, FORCED to pay $200,000 in attorneys’ fees, and the club remained in operation.

In an effort to revise some outdated policies, Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, located in North Carolina, declined to include a procedure whereby the school alerts parents about any knowledge of assuming alternative genders, names, and sexuality. However, the school didn’t glaze over an opportunity to include an LGBTQIA + Support and Policy section.

Spring Branch Independent School District, located in Houston, Texas, passed a bathroom policy that requires transgender students to use facilities that correspond to their biological sex. As you can imagine the transgender-identifying community is going wild…
