To President Biden, from Wyoming: It’s Time to End the Crisis at the Southwest Border
Since President Biden entered office, more than 8.8 million illegal aliens and enough fentanyl to kill every man, woman and child in this country have come across the southwest border.

It is past time we secure the border and stop the flood of illegal aliens and deadly drugs pouring into our country. Unfortunately, the supplemental funding bill put before the Senate this week failed to achieve this goal.

The legislation would have effectively legalized 1.8 million illegal border crossings per year and provided millions of dollars to bail out sanctuary cities that are in danger of becoming bankrupt as a result of their own failed policies. Rather than irresponsibly printing money and adding to the $34 trillion debt, our country would be far better off if President Biden admitted his open-borders agenda has been an unmitigated disaster and brought back the highly successful Trump-era policies.

The president could close the border, end catch and release, build the wall and reinstate Trump-era policies like ‘Remain in Mexico’ tomorrow if he wanted to. The Biden administration saying it cannot enforce existing laws is a bold-faced lie.

On behalf of all Wyoming families, I implore President Biden to use the ample authority at his disposal to end the crisis at our southern border immediately.

Happy Trails,
Senator Lummis' Week in Pictures
I had a fun visit with the Cheyenne Central High School Future Farmers of America. We got to discuss the students' FFA projects as well as what is happening with the Farm Bill in the Senate.

WORKING IN WASHINGTON

Legislative Actions:

  • I led eight of my colleagues in sending a letter to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen imploring the Biden administration to comply with Section 123 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Section 123 requires the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC) to submit a report to Congress every five years on the economic impact of financial services regulatory changes including rules, guidance and other agency actions intended to reduce systemic risk.
    • With the people of Wyoming struggling to keep up with soaring inflation, the Biden administration needs to comply with the law and be transparent about the true cost of their ever-expanding big government regulatory agenda.
WORKING IN WYOMING

Working for Wyoming:

Our country is facing crisis after crisis. There is an invasion at the southwest border, the cost of living has increased nearly 20% since President Biden took office and the debt is on track to exceed $54 trillion in the next decade. The last thing the people of Wyoming need is for President Biden to be focused on their household appliances instead of these major issues.

And yet, he is.

The Biden administration announced a new rule forcing manufacturers to only sell furnaces that convert at least 95% of fuel into heat. This unobtainable new standard effectively bans all non-condensing furnace models, forcing a majority of Wyoming households to adopt electric heat pumps or spend thousands of dollars to renovate their homes to meet the new requirements.

The people of Wyoming should have the freedom to decide what type of appliances they have in their homes. I joined Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in introducing a Congressional Review Act to block the new rule and keep the Biden administration out of your kitchen.
