Dear Friend –

Governor Shapiro presented a blueprint for the next state budget that includes important funding for clean transportation, conservation, and healthy homes. But to address the dire challenges facing so many Pennsylvania communities, our state leaders must make critical investments to protect our environment, curb carbon pollution, and prepare Pennsylvania to compete in a 21st century clean energy economy that moves us away from fossil fuels.

Here’s what we are calling on PA legislators to do:
* Increase investments in plugging orphaned and abandoned wells in order to create good-paying jobs and be eligible for federal funds
* Implement the transformative Solar for Schools Program to help reduce air pollution, create union jobs, and lower costs for taxpayers
* Follow through on the governor’s call for investments in public transit, efforts to replace lead service lines that threaten the health and safety of our families, climate smart agricultural practices, and the Whole Home Repairs program to help vulnerable Pennsylvanians

Our lobbying efforts have already begun, but we know that the best way to make sure our legislators hear us is for their constituents to speak out. Can you join us in asking your lawmakers to advocate for these priorities to be included in PA’s next budget? [link removed]

Friend, there isn’t a single person who isn’t impacted in some way by an environmental issue – whether it’s local flooding, seeing our energy costs increase, or having a family or friend experience asthma or some other health condition caused by air pollution.

The good news is that these issues can be fixed! By championing these critical investments, Pennsylvania can take substantial strides in combating pollution, expanding access to clean energy, and fortifying the resilience of our communities. The federal government is in the process of granting billions of dollars for states to increase clean energy production, build for electric vehicle infrastructure and public transit, and make our buildings energy efficient.

But in order to be eligible for this funding, Pennsylvania legislators need to get to work. The more Pennsylvania invests in clean energy, the more federal dollars it can secure and the most competitive federal grants are set to be awarded by the end of 2024.

The clock is ticking. Pennsylvania must pass a state budget NOW with ambitious and strategic funding for clean energy to maximize federal and private clean energy investments.

Connecting with lawmakers and allies is one of our top priorities, but messages from constituents are so much more powerful. Please send a message now to your legislators and urge them to support a pro-conservation, pro-clean energy state budget: [link removed]

Thank you for your time and dedication to the well-being of our Commonwealth,
