Hi John,

I’m writing to you from my home in Idaho, which is widely regarded as one of the worst states to live in for LGBTQ+ Americans like me.

As bad as Idaho can be for my community, another Republican-controlled state just proved it can get worse.

In the past week, Georgia lawmakers introduced a bill that would:

  • end all legal recognition of trans people in policy, government documents, and public services

  • invalidate driver’s licenses, birth certificates, and medical documents if the holder’s gender does not match their gender assigned at birth

  • mandate the use of bathrooms, locker rooms, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, and sports teams based on gender assigned at birth

  • and remove hate crime qualifications from any and all cases where the victim identifies as LGBTQ.

If passed, this will be one of the most discriminatory laws on the books in any state across the country. But it doesn’t end with Georgia.

A headline graphic from The Hill. The headline reads “ACLU says states saw record number of anti-LGBTQ bills in 2023.”

The ACLU is tracking 402 anti-LGBTQIA+ bills in state houses throughout the U.S. and every one that passes is a sign of what’s to come on the national level if Republicans keep their grip on power.

When I’m elected to Congress, we will give Democrats the House majority and move LGBTQ+ Americans closer to equal representation in Congress. I will fight everyday to stop these attacks on my community, and yours – whatever that may be. Can you help me do it?

John, we’ve seen Republicans set the clock back decades on women’s rights and reproductive care. There is NOTHING stopping them from doing the same to the LGBTQ+ community next.

Nothing except us.

David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running for Idaho’s Second Congressional District. We’re going up against a GOP incumbent who has been in this seat for 25 years. It’s time for change in Idaho, and our grassroots campaign is building on the momentum that began in David’s race for U.S. Senate last cycle. The GOP is not planning to defend this seat, so we plan to take it from them and help Democrats retake the House majority next year. We’d love your support to build a solid campaign to bring progress to Idaho and the country.
