Reminder for VA Democrats: Virginians Don’t Want California to Dictate What
Car They Can Drive

Virginia Democrats continue to ignore the will of their constituents who
simply don’t want California to dictate what kind of car Virginians can drive.

Virginians made it clear during a recent hearing that they want the General
Assembly to repeal a law that cedes authority to California and forces them to
buy electric vehicles.

Virginia Democrats dismissed their constituents then, and they continue to do
so now by refusing to repeal a nonsensical electric vehicle mandate that let’s
California bureaucrats tell Virginians what to do.

Reminder for Virginia Democrats
<[link removed]>
-Here’s what your constituents feel about the mandate you refuse to repeal:

"I feel like we have conceded our sovereignty to California."

"We need to repeal this bill, bring back our own rule of law... Do not allow
California representatives to enforce laws in Virginia."

"I think electric vehicles are great – I drive one. But I think now is the
wrong time to force consumers to buy EVs.”

“I don't believe the government should be telling us what we can or can't be
buying."

This sentiment is also reflected in the 57% of Virginians – including 54% of
Independents and 45% of Democrats – who want the General Assembly to repeal the
California-dictated mandate.

As the Washington Examiner reported
<[link removed]>
, support for repeal is even higher among Virginians previously aware the
mandate was in place - “out of the group that was aware of the mandate, 68% of
people were against it.”

Governor Glenn Youngkin put it best
<[link removed]> during his State
of the Commonwealth address:

Virginians are in charge of our destiny – no one else. That means we also put
power where it belongs – with the people. We must reject the current misguided
law that allows California to dictate our vehicle laws. Not only does it defy
common sense - Virginians should decide for Virginians. With this misguided law
in place, the regulatory process is starting this year, meaning more and more
Virginians will see higher costs and fewer choices. The fastest way to fix this
is for Virginia’s General Assembly to pass a bill allowing Virginians to decide
what car they drive.
