John, 

My name is Melanie Jonaitis, and I am the new Deputy Finance Director for the Minnesota DFL. I wanted to introduce myself.

I was born and raised in New Jersey, where I attended college at Rutgers University and got my degree in political science. Before joining the DFL, I was an intern for the Democratic National Committee and a campaign intern on New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy's re-election campaign. After graduating, I worked for the New Jersey Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee as their Finance & Operations Director. 

I moved to Minnesota in 2022 with my partner and our kitty named Blossom. Since moving here, I have grown to love the snow, cheese curds, and the State Fair. Fun fact: I am a HUGE Prince fan, and I have toured Prince's Paisley Park home several times since moving here!

Most importantly, I am so proud to be working for a party that shows up for every community across the state and seeks to involve everyone in the political process. I’m amazed by how hard everyone at the DFL works to build media campaigns, expand our party’s organizing across the state, train the next generation of Democratic campaign staff, and so much more — all so we can keep winning elections and improving people’s lives.

As part of the fundraising team, I also know first-hand how every single grassroots contribution powers the critical work our DFL team is doing to get Democrats to the polls and keep Donald Trump out of the White House in this critical election year, which is why I asked to reach out personally this morning. 

Nora and I just went through our latest fundraising numbers, and we’re lagging behind our goal for this week. To catch up, we still need to raise $8,343 by tomorrow night.
