Team,
This week marks the 10-year anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.
Over the past decade, the ACA has helped us make huge strides toward the goal of universal healthcare coverage. But as we face a global health crisis in the COVID-19 pandemic and tens of thousands of Americans test positive for coronavirus, the Trump administration is in court trying to eliminate the ACA and kick millions of Americans off their insurance.
I’m demanding Trump drop this lawsuit immediately – Will you join me?
If Trump is successful, there will be no more protections for people with preexisting conditions, no more young people staying on their parents’ plans until they’re 26, and millions losing their health care access – right when they need reliable care the most.
We should be expanding access to care right now, not taking it away. In fact, Rhode Island is one of the states reopening its health insurance exchanges to give uninsured residents another opportunity to sign up for a health plan this year. (Sign up here if you need health insurance!)
And no matter where you live: If you recently lost your job you automatically qualify for an emergency enrollment period and can sign up for insurance on healthcare.gov.
I will continue fighting in Congress to ensure everyone who needs care right now can access it. But first, we have to STOP the Trump administration’s dangerous lawsuit that would gut the ACA. Sign this petition and join the fight →
Wishing you all the best,
-- David
