Dear Friend –

The anti-environment controlled State Senate is fast-tracking a bill to eliminate Pennsylvania's chance to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

RGGI has decreased climate-warming carbon pollution in at least 10 other northeast states. This bill would overturn the executive order for Pennsylvania to join this program with neighboring states, and would mean our communities would keep breathing dirty air and miss out on some 30,000 good-paying union jobs and billions in proceeds.

The situation is urgent, as the bill has already cleared the Environment Committee and is heading to the Senate floor. And it had NO HEARINGS, NO DUE PROCESS, and NO WARNING to our allies in the Senate.

If enough of us raise our voices, we can make sure our senators know that their constituents are watching and that this doesn’t have support. Please take action today: [link removed]

Pennsylvania has been consistently ranked as one of the top five polluting states in the county , and Black and Brown communities have borne the brunt of this legacy pollution, which has led to heightened levels of respiratory illness, cancer, and waterborne pollution.

RGGI will help reduce the legacy pollution that environmental justice communities face and generate proceeds that can be invested into expanding Pennsylvania’s energy portfolio with renewable sources.

Fossil fuel allies in the legislature have fought RGGI every step of the way, and have done everything in their power to keep our energy sources in the hands of Big Oil and Gas.
We are at a make-or-break moment, and your support is crucial. I urge you to contact your State Senator today and tell them to vote NO on Senate Bill 1058: [link removed]

Use your voice to emphasize the importance of Pennsylvania joining the RGGI to promote cleaner air, healthier communities, and a more sustainable future.

Thank you for all you do,

Katie Blume
