BREAKING: VIRGINIA STATE LEGISLATURE PASSES ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN; SENDS TO GOVERNOR’S DESK

FIRST:
Virginia witnessed two of the DEADLIEST mass shootings in modern history, carried out by assault weapons.

THEN:
Virginia’s newly-elected Democratic House and Senate passed a slew of gun safety bills, including a BAN on future assault weapons sales.

NOW:
These critical pieces of gun safety legislation are headed to Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin’s desk – and he’s poised to VETO them because he believes an assault weapons ban “isn’t needed.”

It’s absolutely unacceptable – and we will make Youngkin REGRET his callous statements. Glenn Youngkin claims that Virginia’s gun laws “are tough enough.”

But 32 innocents were stolen at the barrel of an assault rifle at Virginia Tech in 2007…

…12 innocents were stolen by a gunman with an assault rifle in Virginia Beach in 2019…

…and countless other Virginia communities have faced endless bloodshed and terror from countless mass shooters.

But Virginia Democrats are fighting to end this endless violence by passing a statewide assault weapons ban in the legislature – yet Governor Youngkin is standing in their way.

Let’s be clear: We’re incredibly proud of the work our gun safety champions in Virginia have done already. But if Youngkin vetoes this bill there will undoubtedly be more violence and bloodshed – and the next mass shooting will be on HIS hands. We need to PROVE to Youngkin and his cronies that we’re not backing down until assault weapons are BANNED for good. We need 339 gun safety champions to step up before midnight to send every cowardly politician like Youngkin who stands in the way of our movement to end gun violence a RESOUNDING message: Support banning assault weapons and protect our communities, or we will make sure your days in power are numbered.
