Almost 90% (!!) of school shooters obtained guns from unsafe storage in their homes, including the shooter at Oxford High School in Michigan who slaughtered four students and wounded seven more. That’s why Cardona’s plan to educate principals is so important to protect our communities from gun violence – especially when our country has already witnessed 24 school shootings this year. Biden’s Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona, knows from experience the devastation school shootings inflict on a community.

He saw a fellow principal lose her life alongside 25 other innocent souls at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

And he saw countless school shootings in the years to follow where 90% of the gunmen obtained their guns from unsecured storage in their homes.

Now, he’s working alongside President Biden to ensure principals across the country have the tools to educate themselves about safe storage, keep their communities protected, and end school shootings for good.

Please: We deserve an administration like President Biden’s that is run by gun safety leaders – and one like Biden’s that will elevate gun safety champions to leadership at every level to protect our lives.
