Hi Friend,
Did you know that a few weeks ago, Congressman Hank Johnson reintroduced a bill which would authorize $20 billion annually for four years ($80B total) to transit systems for their operating budgets?
This could have big implications for local transit agencies like WMATA, but only if it passes.
Join GGWash, the DC Transportation Equity Network, the DC Sierra Club, Citizens Climate Lobby, and Transportation for America for an in-person transit equity teach-in on Tuesday February 6th from 5:30 - 7:00.
In this casual conversation, we'll talk about what the Stronger Communities Through Better Transit Act [[link removed]] could mean for our region, what we can do to help get it passed, and other ways to advance transit equity in DC.
Space is limited, so make sure to RSVP [[link removed]] if you are interested.
Expert Speakers
Benito Perez: Policy Director, Transportation for America
Kai Hall: Policy Officer, Greater Greater Washington
Mehr Mukhtar: Policy Associate, Transportation for America
Sarah Kline, Board of Directors, WMATA
