Did you see this email we sent last week? We're already getting a tremendous response and want to make sure you saw this to send Governor Shapiro a message.

After Governor Shapiro announced his disappointing 10 year economic plan that relies on fossil fuel production earlier this week, it’s even more important that we make sure that he hears us now! This is not the route Pennsylvania can afford to take – he needs to set out a bold agenda and ensure that PA invests in clean energy so that we all can see lower our energy costs, more electric vehicle infrastructure and expanded public transit, and thousands of new, green union jobs.

Dear Friend –

Pennsylvania has a once-in-a-generation chance right now to access billions in federal funds for clean energy that could lower our energy costs, pay for electric vehicle infrastructure and public transit, and create thousands of new jobs.

But in order to be eligible for this funding, Governor Shapiro needs to set out a bold agenda. The more Pennsylvania invests in clean energy, the more federal support it can secure.

Governor Josh Shapiro is working on his budget address right now. It is crucial that it is bold so that we’re competitive for federal and private clean energy investments that will only be available for the next few years.

We’re calling for the governor to take nine strategic actions in his budget and the next few months – and we know that if he hears from thousands of folks from across the Commonwealth, he’s much more likely to make this a priority. Can I count on you to join us in asking for these priorities to be included in Governor Shapiro’s 2024 Budget Address? [link removed]

Here’s what we’re asking him to include:
* Fully implement any auction proceeds from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative
* Increase the development of renewable energy generation to support clean energy goals and the clean energy economy
* Advance building electrification and energy efficiency in order to lower consumer costs, cut pollution, and improve public health
* Address air pollution through advancing new clean transportation standards and funding
* Prioritize the decarbonization of the industrial sector
* Develop and implement a workforce development strategy to seize emerging clean energy job opportunities
* Advance a clean energy economic development strategy to maximize in-state investments and benefits to local communities
* Double down on efforts to reduce methane pollution from oil and gas wells and from pipelines
* Support climate-smart agricultural practices

All nine of these key strategies align with Governor Shapiro's three-part test for climate and energy policy: protecting and creating energy jobs, taking real action to address climate change, and ensuring reliable, affordable power for consumers in the long term.

The clock is ticking, and with most competitive federal grants set to be awarded by the end of 2024, Pennsylvania must take strategic action NOW to maximize federal and private clean energy investments: [link removed]

Together, we can contribute to the efforts of securing federal funding for Pennsylvania's clean energy future.

Thank you for all you do,
