** Hello Family, Friends, and Neighbors:
------------------------------------------------------------
I hope that you are staying safe and following recommended protocols for social distancing, hand washing, working from home, and limiting time spent outside the home. I know these are challenging times, but with your help we will flatten the curve of this epidemic and help protect our vulnerable populations. Everyone has a part to play in stopping the transmission of this disease. Your community, state, and country thank you for taking these precautions seriously. Here are some updates on the COVID-19 pandemic.

** COVID-19 in Colorado
------------------------------------------------------------
Source: Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
As of Monday, March 23rd, Colorado has 720 positive cases in 29 counties with 72 people hospitalized and 7 deaths. Colorado has tested 6,224 for COVID-19.

Governor Polis put a few new restrictions on workplaces in order to further encourage social distancing and personal isolation. Workplaces will be asked to cut their in-person workforce by 50% by Tuesday. This is for non-essential businesses.

The Governor and his administration launched a new website- HelpColoradoNow.org ([link removed]) . There are opportunities to donate and volunteer to make sure our vulnerable Coloradans are taken care of during this time of uncertainty. Please visit the website to see how you can get involved or if you are an organization needing volunteers or assistance.
San Luis Valley Updates
As of March 23rd, there are two positive cases of COVID-19 in Rio Grande County. Both individuals, a 20-year-old female and a 50-year-old male, are self-isolating at home and have not required hospitalization. This is more of a reason to continue to practice social distancing. If you are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, please quarantine yourself at home and monitor the progression of your symptoms. You can find information on testing here ([link removed]) .

** Tax Day
------------------------------------------------------------
The income tax filing deadline has been moved to July 15, 2020. Taxpayers and businesses will have additional time to file both State and Federal taxes without incurring penalties.

** Hospitals Need Supplies!
------------------------------------------------------------
Hospitals and other healthcare facilities are already experiencing a shortage of essential personal protective equipment. These items are essential to protect our healthcare workers on the frontline fighting this crisis. If you have any unused face shield, eye protection and goggles, surgical masks, N95 masks, gloves, disposable gowns, and biohazard bags please reach out to our office by email or connect with your local healthcare provider to see if they need these supplies. Let's protect and support our valiant healthcare workers!
