The Claremont Institute is proud to welcome Theodore Wold as the director of our new Administrative State Project. In this capacity, Wold will lead our efforts to bring our unaccountable executive bureaucracy back under popular and constitutional control.

“We are thrilled to have Theo, already a long-time friend of the Claremont Institute, on board in an official capacity,” said President Ryan P. Williams. “For too long our unelected bureaucracy has unconstitutionally wielded legislative, executive, and judicial power, abusing the people’s rights and making daily life more complicated, expensive, and ugly. We need fresh thinking on how to combat this, and Wold, with his background on the frontlines, is just the man for the job.”

Formerly the Solicitor General of Idaho, Theo Wold also served as the Acting-Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Policy at the Department of Justice and Deputy Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy under President Donald Trump.

Prior to his three-and-a-half years of service in the Trump White House, Wold served as Deputy Chief Counsel to United States Senator Mike Lee on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“Working in the White House and Senate forced me to confront armies of entrenched bureaucrats,” said Wold. “The cure, I found, was action. And the Claremont Institute is that rare organization that has the collective intelligence and firepower to fight the Leftist ideologues running America. In a real way, I am happy to be home.”
