Don't let Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell abandon U.S. workers!

We're working around the clock to help ensure as many U.S. workers as possible receive emergency paid sick days and paid leave protections in the government's emergency COVID-19 response. Sadly, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are more interested in creating a slush fund for big corporations than ensuring sick workers can stay home when necessary without jeopardizing their families' economic security. We know many people are struggling financially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we understand you may not feel comfortable making a financial contribution right now. We're projecting a significant revenue gap this quarter because many of our fundraising campaigns are on hold, for good reason. That's why we are asking every single person who is able to please step in and donate $5, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford to help us close the gap and continue fighting for U.S. workers.

John:

Yesterday, Mitch McConnell tried to ram through an emergency economic stimulus package that would have bailed out big corporations and essentially abandoned working families. Fortunately, he failed when Senate Democrats demanded stronger protections for U.S. workers. Negotiations resume today.

What you may not know is that the National Partnership has been working around the clock advocating for millions of people who don't have paid sick days or paid leave during this COVID-19 pandemic. We're advising our allies on Capitol Hill, drafting legislation, generating public support, and shaping the national debate in the media.

The good news is that Congress passed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act last week with a historic bipartisan vote on the nation's first national paid sick days and paid leave legislation.

The deeply disappointing news is that the GOP gutted critical provisions and left millions of workers hanging out to dry, including:

* 41.9 million people without paid family leave who work for large private sector employers;
* 6.5 million people without paid sick days who work for large private sector employers;
* Nearly 34 million people who work for small employers and are at risk of losing protections because the U.S. Dept. of Labor may issue exemptions;
* Nearly 20 million people who experience intimate partner violence each year, many of whom now face heightened risk due to stay-home orders; and
* At least a quarter million family caregivers for older adults and people with disabilities whose usual place of care is closed.

This is simply unacceptable.

Millions of workers who need protections the most are among the least likely to be covered thanks to Congressional Republicans who care more about their corporate donors than the people who work for them.

We can't let them get away with it, but we need your help.

Please donate as much as you can afford to help us avoid a significant fundraising gap from this unprecedented public health crisis and continue fighting for stronger protections for U.S. workers.

We don't have a moment to lose. Please donate right now.

Thanks for all that you do.
