ICYMI, last week Health Affairs' Rob Lott interviewed Ingrid Gould Ellen from the NYU Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy on housing mobility and health.

This episode was a part of our special miniseries leading up to the release of our February theme issue on housing and health.

In the January issue of Health Affairs, Adrianna McIntyre and colleagues at Harvard University examine the effects of the introduction of nominal monthly premiums to Massachusetts  Affordable Care Act Marketplace plans on coverage retention.

The researchers find that previously zero-premium plans that introduced nominal monthly premiums in 2017 had a 14 percent excess attrition during the following year than plans that maintained $0 premium.  

These results suggest that nominal premiums create financial and administrative burdens for enrollees.
