It's been another busy week on the ground in TX-23!

Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to advocating for your priorities, my team and I are always here to help.

Fort Bliss, El Paso

I started the week at Fort Bliss with the Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Weimer. We discussed ways we can work together to strengthen our military readiness, upcoming base projects, and the state of veterans’ affairs in El Paso.

I look forward to continuing working alongside SMA Weimer to advance projects that will benefit our troops.

I also met with Brigadier General Susie Kuilan to hear more about the First Armored Division and their recent training efforts.

One thing is for sure—our adversaries don’t want to run into the First Armored Division!

While at Fort Bliss, I also met with Border Patrol Special Operations Group (SOG). This group is hands down one of the most elite law enforcement units in the country.

Thank you for all you do to keep us safe.

Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio

It was a beautiful "Army Strong" day in San Antonio on Thursday!

It was great to spend time with the 41st U.S. Army Chief of Staff General George, incoming Army Surgeon General Izaguirre, and retiring 45th Surgeon General Dingle at the MEDCOM Change of Command Ceremony at Fort Sam Houston.

While at Fort Sam Houston, my team and I held a ceremony to recognize seven Navy Master Chiefs who went above and beyond to honor the life of Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman Joe Luna, who was born and raised in Uvalde and spent over 20 years of service to his country.

A special thank you to Force Master Chief Paul St. Sauver (ret.) and the Navy Medicine Training Support Center’s Chiefs Mess for working alongside my team to make this possible.

I ended the day with a tribute to those who came before me. My grandfather, a WWII veteran, and grandmother are buried at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery — this place is very special to me.

I appreciated the opportunity to visit the grounds this week to discuss upcoming restoration projects for the cemetery.

San Antonio Fire Department

My next stop in the district was with our first responders in San Antonio. Our firefighters are true heroes—often, they are the first to arrive on the scene and the last to leave.

Thank you to San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association President Joe Jones and the San Antonio Fire Department for hosting me.

Safeguarding Our Schools

Chief of Police Charlie Carnes oversees 100+ dedicated law enforcement officers (LEOs) that safeguard San Antonio’s largest school district — hiring more trained LEOs in our schools and deterring threats before an incident occurs is top of mind for Northside ISD.

Thank you to Chief Carnes and the Northside ISD Police Department for updating me on your efforts to keep our kids safe.
