Youngkin’s approval surges 5 points since August

A new VCU poll out this week “found that Youngkin continues to surge in
popularity. Since August, VCU said, Youngkin’s approval rating has increased to
54%, up 5 points.”

The new poll continues a trend of high approval ratings for Governor Youngkin.
In a recent Mason-Dixon poll, Governor Youngkin had a positive approval rating
across every single region in Virginia and a 58% approval rating among
independents.

The VCU poll is just the latest indication that Virginians increasingly
approve of Governor Youngkin’s commonsense leadership and agenda as he works to
make our Commonwealth the best place to live, work, and raise a family!

There is bipartisan momentum behind Governor Youngkin’s partnership with
Monumental Sports to bring the Washington Capitals and Wizards, tens of
thousands of jobs, and billions of dollars in positive economic impact to the
Commonwealth! Republicans and Democrats alike are expressing their support for
this monumental opportunity for Virginia.

Aubrey Layne, who served under Democrat Governors Ralph Northam and Terry
McAuliffe, penned an op-ed this week for the Richmond Times-Dispatch backing
this “once-in-lifetime opportunity" for Virginia. Layne urged members of the
General Assembly to “seize this moment” and “recognize the inherent value of
seeing the deal through.”

In recognition of Virginia’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) Day, First Lady
Suzanne S. Youngkin joined Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry Matt Lohr,
Secretary of Education Aimee Guidera, and Commissioner of Virginia’s Department
of Agriculture and Consumer Services Joe Guthrie, for a roundtable discussion
with the 2023-2024 FFA Virginia State Officers. Becoming a FFA State Officer is
one of the highest honors a student can receive. The selected officers
represent over 13,000 members in Virginia’s program. Mrs. Youngkin enjoyed
talking with the exceptional young leaders and learning more about their recent
travels to Australia and their personal growth during their year of service as
State Officers. The First Lady is a great supporter of Virginia’s vast and
flourishing agriculture industry! The First Lady recently donated $5,000 to
Virginia’s FFA organization from the proceeds of her FLOVA wine, Cornus
Virginicus I, produced in 2022. A second edition, Cornus Virgininicus II, made
by Virginia Winemaker Melanie Natoli (the first female to win VA Governor’s
cup) was released in October and is still available for purchase.

Marking the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz- Birkenau, today
is recognized as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, an opportunity to
honor the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust and millions of others
who suffered oppression and persecution at the hands of Nazis. Holocaust
survivor Halina Zimm remembers a pleasant life in Lodz, Poland before the Nazis
invaded her country. In the years to come, Halina would have no choice but to
evacuate the town she grew up in, leave her family behind and start a new life
in Warsaw, working for a young couple who lived across the street from the
Warsaw Ghetto. After liberation, Halina met her future husband Alan Zimm and
immigrated to the United States, where she now makes #homehistory in Virginia
and across the nation sharing her stories and inspiring all those who listen.
The First Lady and Governor have been honored to meet Halina and her family,
welcoming them into Virginia's home most recently following the Governor's
State of the Commonwealth address where Halina was an honored guest.
