Recommit to fighting for Roe v. Wade

We wanted to make sure you saw this message, john.

Just over 50 years after the landmark Roe v. Wade decision, abortion rights are now hanging by a thread. If Republicans continue to have their way, we'll have a nationwide abortion ban. We need your help to fight back against these attacks and continue to ensure everyone has access to the reproductive care they need.

Rush a donation of $5 or whatever you can today to celebrate the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and join Kim in the fight to protect access to reproductive health care this election.

Team,

51 years ago, Roe v. Wade became the law of the land when the Supreme Court ruled that women had the right to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions without interference from any state up until viability. Yet, thanks to an extremely conservative Supreme Court in the summer of 2022, decades of progress and precedent were overturned.

This set the stage for the return of draconian laws taking medical decision-making away from women and their doctors. We've already seen how devastating this decision has been. Immediately following the ruling, fourteen states worked to pass a near-total ban on abortion. Seven more chose to pass some of the most restrictive abortion access laws in the country.

Now Republicans are in control of the House, and political analysts suggest a Republican sweep in November is possible–meaning abortion is once again on the ballot. This time, not as a Supreme Court decision, but as the potential for a national ban on abortion that would supersede state laws that protect women. While we may not be able to celebrate Roe Day as we used to, its importance is something we cannot forget.

As a doctor, I know that deeply personal reproductive health care decisions should be made by a patient in consultation with her doctor. Extremist politicians in D.C. must not make medical decisions.

That's why last year, I worked to reintroduce the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act to ensure every woman has access to the reproductive health care she needs.

It is also why, just last week, I voted against a bill that would take money away from programs for needy families and use it to support sham Crisis Pregnancy Centers. These centers masquerade as clinics, offering free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, often without any healthcare provider. Then, they lie to patients and spew anti-abortion rhetoric meant to stop women from considering abortion. Make no mistake, this bill passed the Republican House and is part of their march toward a national abortion ban.

Team, Roe v. Wade has never been more important, and that's why I'm asking you to celebrate this Roe Day by donating $5 or whatever you can to keep the only pro-choice woman doctor in the House fighting to defend abortion access.
