Folks, this is disgusting --
NPR: Weeks before virus panic, Intelligence chairman privately raised alarm, sold stocks
Mitch McConnell's buddy and Republican senator Richard Burr told the public not to worry about our government's coronavirus response -- but weeks ago, he warned a group of wealthy constituents to prepare for the worst and sold up to $1.7 million worth of stock before markets crashed.
Burr participated in classified briefings about the coronavirus outbreak as head of the Senate Intelligence Committee and helped write the framework for our federal government's pandemic response.
He knew what was coming. But instead of using his knowledge to help the American people, he helped himself and his wealthy friends and stayed silent as President Trump downplayed the severity of the public health threat we were about to face.
His actions represent an absolute betrayal of his duty as an elected official to serve the American people. We're mobilizing 2,000 signers to join us in demanding Senator Burr's immediate resignation >>
Burr Must Resign >> [link removed]
Burr had a responsibility to use his power as an elected official to mobilize our federal government to confront the crisis, to flatten the curve and save lives while time was on our side.
He had a responsibility to sound the alarm so that our country could prepare for what was to come. But instead, he lied to us.
He cannot be allowed to hold public office. Sign on to tell Mitch McConnell to demand Senator Burr resign NOW >>
