Winter is in full swing here in Washington, D.C. It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to advocating for your priorities, my team and I are always here to help. Advocating for our Servicemembers On Wednesday, I started the day at the Pentagon with Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, James Honea. We discussed policies that will boost our military readiness and enhance the lives of our fellow sailors and their families. I served in the Navy for 20 years and rose to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. I'm proud to be a Navy man, and will always fight in Congress to ensure our troops and veterans are taken care of. Pushing Back Against the Taliban Ryan Corbett, an American citizen, has been wrongly detained by the Taliban since 2022. His absence weighs on not only his family but all Americans. Ryan’s wife and daughter joined us at the Capitol this week to send a clear message — it’s time to release Ryan and bring him home. Veteran Roundtable with VA Secretary I’m proud to co-lead the For Country Caucus in Congress — we’re a group of veteran lawmakers, committed to rising above politics and putting our country first. This week, we met with VA Secretary Denis McDonough to ensure that our troops, their families, and all those who served obtain the best access to quality healthcare and their hard-earned benefits. Congressman Tony Gonzales meets with VA Secretary Denis McDonough. Honoring Uvalde This week, the Department of Justice published its findings on the response to the shooting at Robb Elementary. I will continue to work with officials at all levels of government to ensure that that the recommendations laid out by this review are taken seriously and put into action.
