John, one year from today — on January 20, 2025 — we will witness the inauguration of the President of the United States.

In all likelihood, it will be the second inauguration of either Joe Biden or Donald Trump.

What happens between now and then — from the November election to which party controls the chambers of Congress to certify the election on January 6 — entirely depends on us.

We can’t leave anything to chance. We can’t leave anything on the field.

In the Senate, we are defending a 51-49 Democratic majority.

If we re-elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, we can only afford to lose one seat — a seat that is already all but lost with Joe Manchin’s retirement in West Virginia.

But if Trump or another Republican manages to win, we will need to pick up another seat off of a map dominated by right-leaning Senate states.
