Hi John,

Anyone who knows me (or has read anything I’ve ever written) has probably noticed how proud I am of my deep ties to Tacoma and the South Sound and how grateful I was to serve as Congressman Denny Heck’s District Director and top staffer in Washington state.

Tacoma City Councilmember Kristina Walker, former Tacoma City Councilmember Ryan Mello, and Tacoma School Board Director Lisa Keating feel the same way I do about this place and have offered their joint endorsement of our campaign.

Each of them has some very kind words about our campaign and my experience serving Washington’s 10th Congressional District. I couldn’t be more grateful to have the support of these Tacoma leaders who I’ve admired for a long time. Here’s what they had to say:

Tacoma City Councilmember Kristina Walker:
“As Congressman Denny Heck’s District Director, Phil has been an integral part of federal efforts to support the Puget Sound recovery and save our southern resident orcas, and I know he’ll continue Denny’s environmental leadership in Congress.”

Former Tacoma City Councilmember Ryan Mello:
“Phil has been an incredible resource for the people of Pierce County, and I know we can count on him to continue Congressman Heck’s commitment to fixing our country’s broken behavioral health system.”

Tacoma School Board Director Lisa Keating:
“In addition to building on Congressman Heck’s record of service, Phil will be the only member of the House born in the 1990s and the first openly LGBTQ member from Washington state. We can count on Phil to bring a fresh perspective to Congress, along with the know-how to produce results for the South Sound.”

With nearly a lifetime of calling the South Sound home, I’ve built deep ties to the communities I've served. In fact, the foundation of this campaign is the work I’ve been doing here my entire life, from volunteering for campaigns as a high school student to championing efforts to bring more than $25 million in new funding for Puget Sound restoration while working for Congressman Heck.

Having the support of wonderful public servants like Councilmember Walker, former Councilmember Mello, and Director Keating -- people who dedicate all their time and energy to the South Sound -- really means the world to me. And their support gives our campaign even more momentum to win and take back our future.

We are building a strong coalition to win this seat. Every day our momentum grows, and I’m committed to keeping our momentum growing no matter what tomorrow may bring.

Our democracy will outlast this pandemic, and so will our campaign. We still need to take back our government, and we still need to take back our future.

Thank you for being a part of this campaign, and for your commitment to our shared future.

Sincerely,
Phil
