Dear Preservation Advocate,
As you know, the National Trust’s 27 historic sites are closed to the public,
along with thousands of other museums and cultural sites across the country.
While no one yet knows the full economic impact these closures will have, we
know it will be severe.
That’s why, today, we ask you to take action by contacting your member of Congress
[[link removed]] and urging them to include the nonprofit museum community in the coronavirus
economic relief legislation to provide emergency assistance through June.
Museums, historic sites, and other cultural institutions comprise a $50 billion
industry and employ more than 726,000 Americans. Museums nationwide are losing
at least $33 million a day due to closures as a result of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).
Finally, during this unprecedented crisis, it is essential to remember that
these sites offer comfort, inspiration, and education. They bring people
together, and they will play a big role in returning the nation back to strength
after this crisis has passed. But they need a lifeline to get through this
difficult time.
Congress is working right now
[[link removed]] to help America weather this storm, and museums, historic sites, and other
nonprofits need to be part of any relief package.
Thank you for all you do to save places that matter.
TAKE ACTION
