Sharing the best from our 2024 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference.

Hi John,

This past weekend, more than 800 union members, activists, organizers and leaders gathered in Montgomery, Alabama, for the 2024 AFL-CIO Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil and Human Rights Conference.

The theme was “Our Voice, Our Ballot, Our Future,” in honor of Dr. King’s vision for collective action at the voting booth, in the community and in the workplace to safeguard the pillars of our democracy. It also served as a call to action to turbocharge our year-round mobilization efforts ahead of the 2024 election.

If you weren’t able to join us this past weekend, please take a look at what you missed:

A video still of a sign with the words, “Montgomery.”

We chose Montgomery for this year’s conference because it symbolizes the power of the collective voice. As a labor movement, we have recommitted to breaking historic barriers through our collective power and to re-electing the most pro-labor president in modern history. Finally, we came together in service to take another step toward strengthening the bond between the civil rights and labor movements.

Let’s stay engaged in 2024 as we stand together “to bend the arc of the moral universe towards justice.”

In Solidarity,

Team AFL-CIO
