John, today we celebrate the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. King inspired generations to march toward a more equal and equitable society – one with unwavering voting rights, quality education for every child, and social justice for all.

Looking forward, there is still much work to do to carry out his dream and it starts by coming together.

By showing up to the ballot box, we can renew the fight for equality and challenge injustice. By speaking out, we can demand our leaders truly live up to the ideals of our nation’s promise. By serving in our communities, we can make our world a better place and uplift those most in need.

As we reflect on his contributions, I encourage you to build on Dr. King’s legacy by taking action.

Today, communities across the country are honoring Dr. King through a Day of Service. To find volunteer opportunities in your area, check out Americorps’ website here: https://americorps.gov/serve/volunteer/mlk-day

The work continues,

Stacey Abrams
