John,

Today, the New Pennsylvania Project and the affiliated New PA Project Education Fund are commemorating the life and work of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In his honor, you can find our team out around PA at the following events:

✊🏾 Philly: Broad St. Ministries and African American History, Constitution Museums

✊🏾 Bucks/MontCo: MLK Peace & Social Justice Summit

✊🏾 Chester/Delaware: Reenactment March in Coatesville

✊🏾 Lehigh/Poconos: Allentown Art Museum and St. James Church service

✊🏾 Berks/Lancaster: Women’s Empowerment and Park Clean-up

✊🏾 Capital Region: Bread of Life

✊🏾 Allegheny: Kelly Strayhorn Theater - Justice in Action and Kelly Strayhorn Theater - Let Freedom Sing

Effectively organizing in our community means that we cannot just show up in September or October of election year to tell folks to vote. We have to build authentic and lasting connections within our communities year-round. We are honored to be celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. King, and Mrs. Coretta Scott King too, today and every day by showing up around PA and ensuring that everyone has what they need to make their voices heard.

As we head into another critical election year, we are thankful to live in a country where we can vote and have a chance to be a part of the governmental process. Dr. King spoke about this many times – communities of color must have elected leaders who will govern in their interests and make the promise of our democracy real for everyone.

Thank you for joining us in this fight, and happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

In solidarity,

Team NPP
