Our work continues, but the crisis is having an impact.

Dear friend,
I am writing today because I believe that during this unsettling time, it is
important that we keep each other informed, and do our best to support each
other.
Your well-being is our utmost priority, and I hope you are practicing social
distancing and keeping yourself and our community safe.
We are all learning how to navigate our lives in a situation like the COVID-19
pandemic … but this should not and will not stop us from working toward equality
for all. Our fight for equality is not theoretical, but rather, has real-world
implications (particularly in a crisis) for LGBTQ people and whether, for
example, we receive the healthcare we are entitled to.
The Human Rights Campaign is resilient. And I know you are, too.
The spirit and passion of our staff are showing through every day (loud and
clear on Zoom staff meetings — while our physical office remains closed). We may
be in different locations, but our work for LGBTQ equality continues nonstop.
But, as I am sure you may suspect, this crisis will have a huge impact on HRC’s
resources:
* We canceled several major events where we had hoped to see many of you. This
means a loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars to support our work.
* We have stopped our membership drive with our membership ambassadors on the
street, which means fewer critical new members.
* Pride festivals and parades, where we connect with new and longstanding
members, are being canceled or postponed across the nation.
DONATE NOW
[[link removed]]We are looking at the numbers, and we are expecting a major loss of revenue over
the next few weeks. You can imagine what this could mean for our critical
programs and vital advocacy, and so we will be leaning more on our members who
may be in a position to help. If you can pitch in an extra donation today, it would mean so much.

Whether you have been a member for a long time, or whether this is your first
year of support — I promise that the Human Rights Campaign will be by your side,
working FOR you, no matter what.
And that starts with a special Telephone Town Hall, which we are putting
together the details for now. Please text HRC CALL to 472472 if you would like
to get added to the invite list. (Msg&Data rates may apply. Recurring msgs. Text
STOP to quit. HELP for info.) We will be bringing together experts who will provide information and advice to
our members on what COVID-19 means for the LGBTQ community. We know many of you are anxious and have questions, and we want to help get
answers to as many of those questions as possible so you can take the
precautions necessary to stay healthy.
Part of my role at the Human Rights Campaign is to make sure that nothing slows
down our core work. Because our enemies are still attacking us! Just two days ago, the Idaho legislature passed an anti-transgender bill that
would bar transgender women and girls from participating in sports consistent
with their gender identity.
HRC is working to fight this, and hundreds of other anti-LGBTQ bills in states
across the country — and your generous contribution today
[[link removed]] will give us more strength.
We will keep powering through all the way to Election Day. This latest crisis is
just another in a long list of reasons why we need to vote Trump out of office.
We cannot take another day, let alone four more years of his assault on the
American people. Our lives are at stake!
Thank you in advance for remaining a steadfast member we can always count on —
in good times and in bad.
Please, if you have the means, make a special extra-generous donation to fund
our work in these critical times.

P.S. Many in the LGBTQ community may be isolated during this time — so I
encourage you to keep in touch, check-in with each other and practice kindness
and compassion with every interaction you have. We will get through this
together!
