Hello 350 Chicago Activists!

Let's help Sunrise Movement with their action to demand a climate debate on August 13th!

This year, the Democratic party leadership promised that the climate crisis would be front and center in the Democratic primary presidential debates. We watched and waited and that didn't happen.

After pressure from groups across the country the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has agreed to vote on whether or not to host a Climate Debate. This vote will take place at the next DNC full body meeting on August 22-24.

Sunrise Chicago has reached out to all the Chicagoland DNC members and none have committed their public support to vote yes. So, we are taking our demands to their doorstep. On August 13th at 4:00pm, Sunrise Chicago will be taking over Mike Madigan’s District Office (6500 S Pulaski Rd) and we want as many from 350 Chicago to join as possible! Mike Madigan, as state party chair, regularly neglects his duties to convene the IL delegation for the DNC. It’s time to show him and the Illinois DNC members that climate change isn’t a single issue: it is a crisis that will impact every sector of our economy, country, and livelihood.

Here is a link to the Action Network RSVP and Facebook event page! At the office take over, we will be sharing stories of how the climate crisis has affected each of us and how a Climate Debate would open up everyday Americans' eyes to the possibility of a just and livable future.

Thank you!

Melissa Brice, 350 Chicago
