John—
When the Supreme Court heard arguments in June Medical Services LLC v. Russo earlier this month, anti-choice groups were out in force to push appalling mistruths and disinformation.1
The coronavirus pandemic has led to the postponement of oral arguments for the rest of this month, and we could see a final decision in this case in the early summer or even sooner. Win or lose, we have to be ready to fight for abortion access for everyone, in every state in the country.
We can’t lose sight of the fact that there’s still real, urgent work to be done right now to protect reproductive freedom and ensure that the anti-choice majority on the Supreme Court doesn’t take us backward.
Will you make an emergency donation now to fund our campaign to defend abortion rights?
The case before the Court, June Medical Services LLC v. Russo, will decide whether Louisiana’s clinic shutdown law can go into effect. If the Supreme Court upholds the law, it will pave the way for anti-choice politicians to pass similar laws — effectively banning abortion by forcing providers out of business.2
This case shouldn’t even be in front of the Court; an identical law from Texas was struck down just a few years ago when it was deemed unconstitutional.
But this time, there’s one big difference: Brett Kavanaugh.
His confirmation secured an anti-choice majority on the bench, which means the outcome of this case could be very different.3
77% of Americans support the legal right to abortion. As the pro-choice majority, we refuse to allow out-of-touch politicians to make women and families pay the price for their extreme political agenda.
That’s why we’re preparing to fight for our reproductive freedom in every state, no matter what happens at the Supreme Court. Will you chip in?
Yes, I’ll donate $15 to defend abortion rights.
Thank you for making reproductive freedom a reality for every body.
