Dear members and supporters,

Today is the 97th day of genocide and crimes against humanity in Gaza, and the 97th day of global movements applying collective pressure to demand a permanent ceasefire.

Today, January 11, is also the opening day of the public hearing at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the question of war crimes by the State of Israel. The Republic of South Africa is bringing a case to The Hague charging Israel with genocide. Bolivia, Jordan, Malaysia, Turkey, and Venezuela have officially backed South Africa's case, bolstering global support for the case.

In two weeks, on Friday, January 26, a lawsuit will be heard in U.S. federal court, brought by Palestinian plaintiffs, including Palestine-based human rights organizations and Palestinians in Gaza via the Center for Constitutional Rights, against President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Austin for their complicity in Israel’s genocide.

These two lawsuits complement one another and are incredibly important moments in our ongoing international fight to end the genocide in Gaza. The ICJ case directly pressures the State of Israel, while the federal lawsuit aims to hold the U.S. accountable for their central role in this crime.

Whether or not the courts rule favorably, these are historic moments where South African movements and Palestinian families will lay out cases for the world to bear witness and take action. GGJ is appealing to all of our members and supporters to please sign on to both of the following calls to action.

In late December, South Africa requested that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) intervene to stop Israel’s military invasion in Gaza due to violations of the Genocide Convention. The public hearings at The Hague will determine if violations occurred, potentially implicating all other states, including the U.S., who failed to prevent or are complicit in genocide.

In response, the International Coalition to Stop Genocide in Palestine (ICSGP) issued a sign-on letter with 1,000+ organizational endorsements worldwide so far, including our social movement international allies, the World March of Women and La Jornada Continental. Sign on to this letter and help press governments to support the South African case against Israel.

The ICSGP also asks endorsing organizations to join actions of support at The Hague during the hearing and to hold local rallies and vigils this week, including expressions of gratitude and solidarity at South African embassies.

On Friday, January 26, a federal court in Oakland, CA will hear a lawsuit filed by Palestinian plaintiffs charging President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Secretary of Defense Austin with complicity in Israel’s genocide. This suit seeks an emergency federal court order to halt U.S. support for this genocide.

Join GGJ, Rising Majority, and other allies for a Day of Action! While the case is being made to end military support to Israel, we call on you to take action wherever you are to ramp up the pressure on Biden, Blinken, and Austin. The federal court has the authority to force the U.S. to stop this genocide, a crucial and urgent case for the millions who are enduring the devastating effects of Israel’s rampage.

We call on all people of conscience to be in solidarity with our court partners on January 26. Endorse this day and pledge to take action! Actions can include:

Texto: ¡A apoyar a Sudáfrica en la Corte Internacional de Justicia!

Querides miembros y partidaries,

Hoy es el 97mo día de genocidio y crímenes contra la humanidad en Gaza, y el 97mo día de presión colectiva applicada por los movimiento globales exigiendo un alto permanente al fuego.

Hoy, 11 de enero, también es el día de inicio de la audiencia pública en la Corte Internacional de Justicia (CIJ) sobre la cuestión de los crímenes de guerra por parte del Estado de Israel. La República de Sudáfrica ha iniciado un proceso judicial en La Haya acusando a Israel de genocidio. Bolivia, Jordania, Malasia, Turquía y Venezuela han oficialmente respaldado el caso de Sudáfrica, reafirmando el apoyo global por el caso.

En dos semanas, el viernes 26 de enero, se oíra una demanda en la corte federal de EE.UU., presentada por demandantes palestinos, incluyendo organizaciones de derechos humanos basadas en Palestina y palestinos en Gaza, a través del Centro por los Derechos Constitucionales, contra el Presidente Biden, el Secretario de Estado Blinken y el Secretario de Defensa Austin por su complicidad en el genocidio de Israel.

El viernes 26 de enero, una corte federal en Oakland, CA oirá una demanda presentada por demandantes palestinos acusando al Presidente Biden, el Secretario de Estado Blinken y el Secretario de Defensa Austin por su complicidad en el genocidio de Israel. Este juicio procura que la corte federal emita una orden judicial de emergencia para frenar el apoyo de EE.UU. de este genocidio.

¡Únase a GGJ, Rising Majority y otres aliades para un Día de Acción! Mientras se expone el caso para poner un fin al apoyo militar de Israel, les pedimos que tomen acción donde sea que estén para aumentar la presión sobre Biden, Blinken y Austin.
