 John,  “California’s waivers are now a perennial punching bag for congressional Republicans, who have taken aim at the state’s electric vehicle mandate and ban on gas-powered lawn equipment. And a group of red states, led by Ohio, is challenging the constitutionality of California’s unique authority to set stricter-than-federal air quality standards, in a case that could reach the Supreme Court. A former U.S. EPA scientist who worked at the agency during the Trump years said that not having the waivers in hand would make it still easier for a second Trump administration to prevent California from implementing its rules.” At a time that CA-30 is electing a new representative for the first time in over twenty years, we have to make sure we elect someone who can take on the mantle of being a tireless fighter for us in Congress and not allow any potential Trump administration any attacks on our state.
From authoring meaningful legislation to add more affordable housing, protecting wildlife in California, and authoring first-in-the-nation legislation to combat climate change, I have proven myself to be the most viable progressive woman, our biggest climate champion, and the most accomplished policymaker running for this seat. In fact, in 2018 I authored AB 2975, a bill to protect California’s wild and scenic rivers when the Trump administration was trying to take away their protections. Under my leadership, we held strong and California prevailed.
