Dear John,
In 2023, our state’s far-right leaders eagerly embraced authoritarianism and did everything they could to divide us, but we did not let them win. Instead, our powerful grassroots movement came together and created community and joy in the face of these attacks— our radical acts of resistance . In addition to registering thousands of people across Texas to vote, we:
*
advocated
for
truthful,
censorship-free
curricula
and
textbooks
and
provided
activists
with
the
tools
and
tactics
to
secure
education
quality
and
equity
for
future
generations
*
organized
clergy
and
people
of
faith
to
lift
their
voices
against
harmful
legislation
and
expanded
our
Reproductive
Freedom
Congregations
initiative
*
mobilized
young
people
around
a
youth
justice
agenda
and
fought
to
recover
polling
locations
and
access
to
the
ballot
on
college
campuses
across
our
state
...and much more.

The unmatched fierceness of this movement keeps me going. Thousands of advocates, community members, clergy, congregants, young Texans, and allies flocked to the Capitol each time we called upon them, and thousands more showed up virtually by calling and emailing their legislators and signing our petitions. Through it all, it is our strength that carries me into 2024.
Thank you for making our vital work possible. With supporters like you alongside us, I know we will never back down from this fight.
With gratitude,
