Dear John,

Happy New Year! I hope you all were able to celebrate the start of 2024 with your friends and family.

The start of a new year offers an opportunity to reflect anew on the work we still have ahead of us on behalf of working families across Minnesota.

Congress kicks off the first week of session on Tuesday, so naturally I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d like to see Congress achieve this year.

In 2024, it’s my utmost hope that Democrats, Republicans and those who consider themselves independents – can find a way to work together. That’s the only way we will make this country work.

And there's a lot we need to get done. We have funding deadlines coming up in January and in February to avoid a partial government shutdown. The only way this gets done is if we work together.

My priorities for 2024 remain the same. We need to push to lower the cost of health care, including capping insulin costs at $35 per month for all families. We need to fund public safety, address the fentanyl and addiction public health crisis, write a Farm Bill that works for Minnesota and much more. The only way any of this gets done is if we work on a bipartisan basis.

That’s my hope for this year – and I look forward to working with many of you on these very important goals.

Finally, I wanted to acknowledge that tomorrow is January 6 – and the three-year anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Thank you to the Capitol police officers who fought bravely on that day to protect us from harm.

Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:

My holiday season was filled with time with family - our four sons, two daughters-in-law, two grandsons and quality time with extended family. It was a time to reflect on the challenges we overcame in 2023 and express gratitude for our many blessings.

And it was Dakota’s first Christmas! As it turns out, she really loves to help us open presents! A little too much actually.

I’m more committed than ever to working on your behalf. And more grateful than ever for the opportunity.

Until next week,
