Welcome to my latest newsletter:

Covid-19 (corona virus)

I am aware that there is a lot of nervousness and concern across both our counties from individuals and families, carers, educators, front line emergency services and businesses - large and small. The situation is constantly evolving, and I can assure you that the UK Government is doing everything it can, based on expert medical and scientific advice, to keep people as safe as possible and businesses above water.

Inevitably with the issue of devolution there is a lot of confusion for both the public and businesses over who is responsible for what in Wales, so I hope that the following can help you or people you know find the right sources for the help that they need. I am in constant contact with the Welsh Government, and we are both working collaboratively to centralise any advice so that is easily accessible and identifiable.

Please do share this information and also keep an eye on my Facebook page as I will also be posting new updates on there. I apologise if I am not always able to offer precise answers to individual questions and I can assure you that all communications are being read, however I will continue to provide as much information as I can to help you during this challenging time.
STOP PRESS:

Information regarding school closures and exams in Wales can be found on the Welsh Government website: https://gov.wales

Other information and guidance:

Please see the Chancellor's most recent statement here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/chancellor-announces-additional-support-to-protect-businesses and the Prime Minister will be holding a press conference every day with updates.

Business Wales has issued a 'letter to business' on Covid-19 from Ken Skates:

Finally, the UK Government has now allocated £1.6 billion to the Welsh Government to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. This is done via what is called the Barnett consequential and will ensure that the Welsh Government has the money it needs to provide essential support for businesses and employees via grants, rate relief and similar.
