As you're reading this email, Voto Latino is actively registering voters online, John. Our work doesn't stop!

I wanted to reach out to give you an update on Voto Latino’s efforts to register and mobilize Latinx voters ahead of today’s primaries in Arizona, Florida, and Illinois. But first, let’s talk real quick about the ways we’re continuing to make a difference in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Voto Latino has always been a digital-first organization, working to meet young people where they’re at by registering voters online via computers and smartphones, running robust and engaging social media channels, as well as creating an email program that not only shares important election updates and information, but opportunities for people to take action, attend events, and hold their elected officials accountable.

Digital organizing is powerful, my friends! Just look at what we were able to achieve last weekend when we took an originally in-person GOTV event and turned it into a virtual text bank:

  • Nearly 70 volunteers registered to volunteer from home;
  • 30,000 text messages were sent to Arizona voters by volunteers;
  • Every message shared the VL Lyft code to give people free rides to the polls. Lyft has provided guidance for riders and drivers here on how to protect themselves and others. Per the CDC, if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or suspect you may have it, you should not use ridesharing, public transportation, or taxis.

Our staff here at VL have gone completely remote as a means of protecting our health and others’, but we’re still doing some major GOTV efforts to answer voters’ questions about polling places, give them free Lyft rides to the polls, and share important updates in light of COVID-19 as we try to get voters to the primaries. Take a look at the numbers we’re putting up:

  • 13,405 early vote info emails sent to Florida and Arizona;
  • 14,830 emails sent this week about voting today in Florida and Arizona;
  • 36,630 SMS text messages scheduled to go out today in Florida, Arizona, and Illinois;
  • Relevant social media content that reaches over 22 million people.

All of this goes to show that no virus will stop us from activating voters and building more Latinx political power. Help us continue to serve our voters – today, and all election season long: pitch in $10 or whatever you can afford today to fuel our digital organizing work throughout 2020:
