THE MURDERESS, an original true crime opera, is based on the character of "Jolly Jane" Toppan, a real-life nursed turned serial killer in late 19th century Boston.
THE MURDERESS is the first opera by Lawrence-based composer Allison McIntosh and librettist Trip Venturella. First premiered in Kansas City in early 2023, THE MURDERESS contains more than one twist and asks some tough questions of all involved.
