It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to advocating for your priorities, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year From my family to yours, we hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a Happy New Year. On the Ground at the Border: From Eagle Pass to El Paso Last week, I traveled 1,250 miles across TX-23 to meet with law enforcement at our southern border. My first stop was with Border Patrol in Eagle Pass where illegal crossings hit record numbers in recent weeks. The Agents I spoke to all agreed on the same thing—there must be greater consequences for illegal immigration. Failure to strengthen our border policies will continue to endanger our national security. While in Eagle Pass, I also met with Customs for an update on our international bridges. For days, cross-border trains were shut down because of illegal immigration. Passenger travel also experienced huge delays. When border commerce suffers, American families feel the impact. Though rail operations have resumed, I will continue to advocate for trade and travel to remain unaffected by this border crisis. I ended the day in Eagle Pass with a press conference to demand emergency action from Congress. Border communities cannot continue to live through this chaos—fixing this crisis must be priority number one in Washington. After my visit to Eagle Pass, I drove to Sanderson where I met with Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland and thanked his department for their dedicated efforts to protect our border. Once in El Paso, I visited with Border Patrol and Customs—both of which are working around the clock to deal with this crisis. Congressman Tony Gonzales meeting with Border Patrol Agents in El Paso Congressman Tony Gonzales with U.S. Customs in El Paso. We need concrete policy changes to address this recurring nightmare, and it will take the House, Senate, and White House to come together to make this happen. I have worked tirelessly each day since taking office to bring attention to this issue and find solutions that will secure our borders. I will continue to pressure Washington to move beyond politics and deliver. My team and I are always available to assist you. Please feel free to contact my office at any time.
