December Newsletter Dear Friend, As the year draws to an end, I find myself very thankful for the opportunity to represent you and Alabama’s Sixth District in Congress. Hopefully, this time of year allows you to enjoy time with your family and gain some much-needed rest. I know this year has not been easy for many Americans, but I hope that our struggles have given us a new sense of resilience. My staff and I have been hard at work during 2023 to make sure you are represented well. Over the last calendar year, we sent out over 30,000 letters responding to your comments and concerns regarding issues and legislation. Additionally, my staff and I had over 200 meetings with constituents, businesses, and advocacy groups to ensure that your concerns were heard. If you are ever in Washington, D.C., please come by our office! This year, our office gave over 150 tours of the Capitol, with a total of over 700 constituents joining on those tours. In our district office, over 600 constituents were assisted with federal issues, including a large number of IRS, passport, veterans, and social security cases. Our district office staff also visited schools throughout the community and made presentations about the U.S Constitution to approximately 2000 students. Even though I was voting in Washington for a large part of the year, I was still able to be active in the Sixth District. This year, I spoke to college students at the University of Montevallo, Samford University, and the University of Alabama. I also spoke to grade school students in Fairfield, Vestavia Hills, Helena, and Mountain Brook. My staff and I also hosted multiple lunches for mayors representing dozens of cities and towns in the district. Additionally, I was able to visit 22 different cities and towns in the district, many on multiple occasions, and toured numerous businesses and manufacturing facilities. While at home, I was also able to host and attended meetings with constituents, including chambers of commerce events, prayer breakfasts, and other community events and local meetings. Finally, this year I nominated students to all four U.S. Service Academies and held both an academy night and academy nomination reception. Looking back on the year, I am reminded of the great blessing we have to live in such a wonderful place as central Alabama. It truly is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I hope to be a part of keeping it that way for future generations. If you ever want to express your thoughts or comments regarding legislative issues, please call our D.C. office at (202) 225-4921 or email me through my website. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year. It is an honor to represent you, and I look forward to being in touch in January. Sincerely, Gary Palmer Biden Impeachment Inquiry Earlier this month, the House voted to officially begin an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This vote was a large step towards getting the transparency the American people deserve. During the entirety of Congress’ investigation into the Biden family, the White House has been obstructing our ability to get the information we need. The American people should wonder why that is the case. Unlike the impeachment of President Trump which was based on false charges and was a political hack job, we have built a case based on solid evidence. As we continue this investigation, I promise to follow where the evidence leads us and bring accountability to the Biden family. Protecting Our Elections The American people should be certain their vote is not being erased by noncitizens. Earlier this year, year I introduced the Citizen Ballot Protection Act that will amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to allow states to require proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. My bill has passed out of the House Committee on Administration. Shortly after, Senator Katie Britt introduced companion legislation in the U.S. Senate. I look forward to seeing both of our bills pass so that we can ensure that only citizens can vote in our elections. Yellowhammer: Britt, Palmer: Voting ‘must solely be limited to American citizens’ 1819: U.S. Rep Palmer bill allowing states to require proof of citizenship passes committee The Daily Signal: House Panel Moves to Stop Noncitizen Voting, Foreign Funding of US Referendums Colorado Supreme Court Decision The ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court to remove President Trump from the ballot shows a flagrant disregard for the Constitution and places the opinions of judges over the will of the people. Voters deserve the ability to elect their President, not partisan judges. Removing President Trump from the ballot sets a dangerous precedent where the Constitution becomes a meaningless document weaponized by the left against their political enemies. Yellowhammer: ‘Colorado is already trying to steal and rig’ 2024 election against Trump, Alabama leaders say War in Israel When President Biden shows indecision and weakness to our enemies around the world, our friends suffer. The attacks against Israel by the Hamas terrorist group and the slaughter of Israeli citizens justifies Israel’s determination to completely eliminate Hamas in Gaza. The Biden Administration should let it be known that the United States stands solidly in support of Israel.
