The GOP House majority couldn’t have been less interested in making a difference in people’s lives. I’m disappointed, but I’m not surprised.

Rather than working with the Senate and president to build consensus and address the nation’s biggest challenges, the House majority wasted precious time over intraparty power struggles — from the election of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker after 15 votes, to closing down the House’s business for nearly a month this October fighting to fill his place after deposing him.

They were more concerned with public displays of loyalty to Donald Trump and draconian messaging bills to win their primary elections than with working to solve the maternal mortality crisis, make more affordable housing, or raise wages.
