Painting workshop and site discovery

Join us these school holidays at one of our painting workshops for children.

Our friendly host will take children on a special mission to discover, look at and learn about the Australian landscapes painted by past resident Paul Chimin.

Inspired by Paul Chimin’s murals, children will create their own masterpieces using acrylic paints to mix colours and recreate their interpretation of his artwork.

Afterwards, parents, guardians and children are welcome to enjoy a BYO picnic and/or explore the site while their artwork dries.

Wednesday, January 10 and Wednesday, January 17
10.30am to 12.15pm each day
$18 per child
Recommended for ages five plus

Bookings required - get in touch on (02) 6020 6912 or email [email protected]. Payment to be made at the time of booking.

Parents and guardians are welcome to stay in the Function Centre with their children or discover the historic site during the workshop – choose to participate in a guided tour from 11am to 12.15pm or explore at your leisure. Site admission and guided tour costs apply.

About Paul Chimin

Paul Chimin was a resident of Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre from 1947 to 1952.

Showcasing a land of extremes, Paul painted several murals of the Australian countryside, which hung in the Bonegilla Assembly Hall Theatre - the heart of the camp.

The murals have since been restored and are currently on display in the Hume Club.
