Friend,
Today, CGF learned that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a planned
hearing in Miller v. Becerra has been delayed.
CGF's case against the California "Assault Weapons" ban had been
scheduled to be heard March 19th in federal court.
According to an order published by Judge Roger T. Benitez of the
United States District Court for the Southern District of
California:
"In keeping with the Covid-19 related recommendations of
United States President Donald J. Trump, as well as medical experts as
to social distancing, this Court hereby exercises its discretion and
vacates the current motion hearing date of March 19, 2020. Notice of a
new motion hearing date and time will be given at a later
date."
The decision follows a string of recent court-imposed delays on a
hearing in this case.
And, while disappointing,
we must stress that this is NOT a delay or cancellation of the case
itself, and we are not aware of any other case delays due to
COVID-19.
We look forward to continue litigating this important case as soon
as possible, and we will announce the new hearing date as soon as it
is established by the court.
In the meantime, CGF encourages our supporters to continue
backing this push to terminate California's gun ban.
You can do so by clicking this link and making
a tax-deductible contribution.
Until then, we thank you for your patience and support.
Sincerely,
California Gun Rights
