Weekly Script December 22nd, 2023 WEEKLY SC℞IPT Visit My Website Friends, Christmas is a time of joy, happiness, and hope. It is a time for our friends and family to come together to celebrate the many small and large blessings and reflect on how we can give more of ourselves, especially to those less fortunate. As we get ready to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year, my family and I would like to wish you and your loved ones the warmth, peace, and quiet joy of Christmas and healthy and bountiful New Year! 20 County Tour It is always great to meet with Iowans as I travel across the first district! It truly is my favorite part of serving in Congress. Speaking to Iowans allows me to stay informed about what is happening in their communities and what I can do to help. Thank you to Agri-Industrial Plastics for hosting me this week and discussing the importance of delivering quality, low-cost energy, to each Iowan. Thank you to Access Energy for hosting Wednesday’s Listening Post. To successfully represent the district in Washington, it is important to hear what challenges Iowans face in their daily lives. As we made our way across the district, I held a listening post in Williamsburg on Thursday. I want to thank everyone who attended and I look forward to seeing you soon. Combatting floods that affect our area every year begins right here in the Quad Cities. National Weather Service Quad Cities and their flood center work tirelessly to provide real time weather analysis for every upcoming event. Thank you for showing me around your world class facility. I visited with Chuck at South Slope this week to discuss the importance of telecommunications and rural broadband. As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, I will advocate tirelessly for the expansion of broadband service to our rural communities. Committee News Our outstanding staff director of the Veterans Affairs Health Subcommittee, Christine Hill, will be retiring at the end of this year after over 30 years of federal service. From her time in the Air Force to her work here on committee, Christine’s life has been about service. Thank you, Christine, for all the incredible work helping our veterans, you will be sorely missed. Sincerely, Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks Be sure to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for more updates. ### Rep.
